Should I be on the lookout for any other manual to help with the disassembly and reassembly of the lathe? I found a photocopy of “Boxford Training Lathes Machine Notes & Parts Manual” on eBay.uk for $20, but am unsure if the content is that much different than the other two? Since is mostly a date of manufacture issue and my lathe is the brown cabinet and the green gray upper (original paint) then is it safe to say that the machine was manufactured sometime in the 70’s? I wrote Boxford about this and posted the serial number on the yahoo group, but so far no words back.Īs far as manuals I found the Boxford know your lathe book on line, then purchased the actual book used though Amazon for $25 shipped, and the parts diagrams are listed in the Boxford user groups files.

The problem is that number is not close to any serial listed online and Boxford Spares sells parts by serial number. The serial numbers are C-III-73191 stamped in the bed in the right place.

I'm happy with zero marks in the bed, and it is considerably larger than my import 8x14 lathe.

I gave the lathe a thorough look and so far except for a bent cross feed screw / handle and a missing left cabinet door I think it’s a very solid project. I am now the owner of a 5” (10”) Metric Boxford CUD lathe that somehow made it to the USA, and had a few questions.
